One of the best ways to conquer stress and to burn off your frustration is to follow an exercise plan, or to take an active interest in a sport. It seems strange that sport, which seems stressful can help to control stress. If you don’t feel up to the rigours of vigorous exercise you could try the relaxation exercises and breathing techniques that are developed in yoga.

Both of these activities will help reduce your stress levels and to help with sleep patterns.

Do not even think about using alcohol or drugs to cure the stress. These two will lead to even greater problems – problems that will make your original problems seem like a children’s tea party.

Remember, you are only human, do jobs in order of importance. Prioritise, don’t try to do everything that needs doing at once. Also learn to say “NO.” Don’t take on work that isn’t important.

Eat slowly, enjoy eating, enjoy your food. Don’t eat by yourself. Make meal time a social event. Talk to people around the table. Talk about and share the good things that have happened today. Plan the good things that are going to happen in the future.

REMEMBER that “talking” also means listening. Listen and take an interest in what others are saying.

Have more sex! Share the bath and shower with your partner.

If all else fails and life is getting on top of you and is affecting your overall health make an appointment with your GP.
